Licenses have been approved for test drilling by hydraulic fracturing (fracking) in the Lough Allen Basin, which includes parts of Counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Fermanagh and Roscommon.
Licenses have also been approved in the Clare Basin, affecting Counties Clare and Limerick.
Works would potentially affect and could contaminate the Shannon waterway, for its entire length, beginning in our area.
We invite public discussion of a policy which has led to: - widespread poisoning of wells, - water flaming from spigots, - health destroyed, - sick and dying animals, - land values gone, since farms and houses in those areas are not saleable, for thousands of people across the USA.
We recognize that the issue is spreading beyond our own locality, and become an international issue.
